What Teachers & Principals Say:

Los Cerros Middle School, Danville, Ca

Roy Wells brings Living History ALIVE!!!  My American History students look forward to Roy’s presentations with excitement. His presentations on the Revolutionary and Civil Wars are the BEST!  Having Roy come to your class is like having the Smithsonian and the National Archive arrive at your school. He is a master at his craft, the information he shares in most cases won’t be found in a textbook, but through years of tireless research on his part.  Roy’s passion for history is contagious… students are still talking about his presentation weeks afterwards. Hands on learning is an understatement… right off the bat Roy has the students dressed in period uniforms and using artifacts from the specific time frame. He has a great sense of humor keeping students in stitches the whole time.
If Roy Wells isn’t doing the presentation it isn’t “LIVING HISTORY”! BRAVO! --Bruce Simonds, Los Cerros

Gale Ranch Middle School, San Ramon, CA

Roy’s presentations make history come alive for my students.  They get to touch, feel, handle, wear, use and see uniforms, artifacts, and clothing that they only read about or see photographs of in their history textbooks.  He offers the kids a chance to step back in history for a day and experience/simulate what it must have been like to live and be a part of the Revolutionary War and the Civil War.  It’s an experience and a presentation that I could never replicate in the classroom with the textbook or any other resources.  Roy is truly a history expert beyond any textbook, powerpoint, book, internet site, or pictures that I could provide to my students in the classroom.” -- Pam George, Gale Ranch Middle School

Sequoia Middle School, Pleasant Hill, CA

Colonel Wells has been coming to Sequoia for three years now. It is an event that the entire school looks forward to – even those that aren’t studying U.S. history yet. His collection of original period artifacts and replicas is astounding, and better than any museum that would put everything behind glass, Col. Wells lets the students see up close and handle these items. Ever seen a battlefield chamber pot? Col. Wells has one. It’s one thing to read about the bloody Civil War battle at Antietam, it’s another thing to have students see the crude tools a battlefield surgeon would use to amputate a leg. Roy can really bring the period to life and the students eat it up. His presentation should be codified into the state standards as far as I am concerned.  -- Will Gregory, Sequoia Middle School

Glenbrook Middle School, Concord, CA

Roy has a deep love for history and imparts a great deal of wisdom through his engaging reenactment presentations.  He has been providing our students with history enrichment presentations for the last couple of years.  Since we have a high number of English Learners, his visual demonstrations allow the students to really understand history and the difficulties encountered during the many battles and wars fought to bring us the United States of America.  I sincerely recommend Roy’s presentations to all schools to enhance student’s understanding of US History.  He is to be commended for his community service, historical knowledge and accurate depiction of a battlefield to our students.  -- Dr. Gary McAdam, Principal, Glenbrook Middle School, Concord, CA
